A property management system helps you operate the stay. A channel manager helps distribute rates and availability to external booking channels. They overlap, but they are not the same job.

The dangerous bit is the boundary between them. A confirmed reservation needs to remove availability everywhere it should, a cancellation needs to release it correctly, and rate or restriction changes need to reach the channels without creating a second pricing truth.
